Donald F.M. Doyle Donald Francis M. Doyle was born in the Tacony section of Philadelphia in October 20, 1934. He graduated from Frankford High School in 1952, then joined the US Army Reserves and served in the 318th Signal Corps. He trained at Ft. Knox, Ft Monmouth, and Ft Meade. He served as a photographer Spec 4 for some of the more important events in American History. Don initially trained and served stateside for six months during 1957. He was later recalled to active duty and assigned to document the call-up by President Kennedy’s in response to the Berlin Wall. The Berlin Wall was constructed by the occupying Russians almost overnight on October 3, 1961. Don was there. The wall remained up until November 9, 1989 after Premier Gorbachev responded to President Reagan’s call to "Tear down this wall." Don was reactivated in 1962 to document the beginnings of the Vietnam War, assigned to take photos of soldiers in civilian clothes, going off to Vietnam as civilian observers. Don married Joan Helen Rutkowski and lived in Cinnaminson for many years before moving to Zurbrugg Mansion in 2011. Don was an active member of the Frankford High School Alumni Association and the Holmsburg Chapter of Knights of Columbus. Don died October 20, 2020.
